Agata Bieleń is a versatile artist who makes various forms come to life in her unique studio. Handmade jewellery shares the space of an architectural studio with minimalist graphics. All of Agata’s designs, however, have one common denominator: the same plane. All of her works revolve around a line, the simplest geometric form.

A pottery studio, open workshop and shop in one. A perfect place for all those who have been bitten by the pottery bug. You can acquire unique, non-moulded vessels with remarkable aesthetics while participating in workshops organised in the studio, or you can order whatever utensils you desire.

Balena is a small ceramic studio where its founder – Katarzyna Bakuła-Drożak – and her husband Kuba work together. In their workshop, you will find dishes made from stoneware and faience in intense shades of turquoise, earth tones, and even gold.

This is one of the most interesting bookshops in Poznań, which for years formed an inseparable part of the Stary Browar Shopping Centre. Today, it occupies a charming corner shop in Łazarz, at the intersection of Strusia and Małeckiego streets. Bookarest attracts true connoisseurs of books, as it has been created and run by literature enthusiasts, who decided to share their passion and convey everything that has always been dear to them: their love for art, architecture and design.

Places like this let bookworms rest easy. This bookstore, hidden in the Poznań castle, attracts the enthusiasts of design, fiction, non-fiction and children’s literature. This is a unique place also because it is part of a collective of independent booksellers who for years have been concerned with the culture-forming nature of bookshops in Poland.

Brzystki is the original studio of Filip Brzyski, a sculptor whose works combine traditional ceramics with contemporary design. Brzyski likes experimenting, using various types of slip, and teaching – the studio organises ceramic workshops and outdoor classes for children and adults.

In her work, Magdalena Kucharska returns to the roots, to nature. This seems to be the source of the artist’s infinite inspiration. Hadaki ceramics are simple, yet somewhat complex. The reason might be clay – a raw material perfect for experiments and full of surprises. Hadaki mainly offers practical tableware – cups, espresso cups, bowls and plates, designed for those who like to own original items.

The studio of Alicja Cichosz is a place where the unhampered creative process leads directly to new, unusual forms and shapes. The colourful Kobe products reflect explorations that go back to and, at the same time, redefine the classics. The result is pottery with interesting shapes and unusual colour combinations.

This is no ordinary tailor’s studio. Kuluza will make everything from anything. Beanbags from banners, seats from artificial turf, theatrical costumes, spatial installations and set design elements. The ladies at Kuluza make sure that most of their products go through recycling and uplifiting. Nothing is tossed, even the smallest piece of fabric will be put to good use. This is where the well-known backpacks and gadgets promoting the Malta Festival, Short Waves or Animator are produced.

Łukasz Marcinkowski and Radek Berent have created a special place. Kwiaty i Miut are a Jeżyce florist shop, whose compositions are the talk of the town. The two owners discover the beauty of plants almost anew by creating naturalistic arrangements. The plants they use are cultivated from seedlings on their own, organic farm. Kwiaty i Miut also offers flower workshops, wedding decorations or styling for photo shoots.

There is a small pottery workshop in Junikowo district of Poznań. This is where Magdalena Jugo first makes prototypes, and then creates her designs. Unique, practical use items are made here from both porcelain and hand-formed clay. Here you will find items related to the space around the table. The studio is located in the backyard garden, right next to the family ice cream shop.

The Museum of Applied Arts is the only place in Poland devoted entirely to applied arts from the Middle Ages to the present day. If you want to know more about design, you must visit this venue. It will certainly be worth you time, as the new edition of this Map offers you a special perk: you will have the opportunity to see projects from the Italian “dream factory”, i.e. Alessi, known for its long-standing cooperation with the greatest icons in world of design: Ettore Sottsass, Richard Sapper, Achille Castiglioni, Alessandro Mendini, Aldo Rossi, Michael Graves or Philippe Starck.

Nami is a small pottery studio, born out of love for the Japanese craft tradition.
Mateusz Pascal Łotocki and Elka Kosek are the founders of this place. The vessels they create take on simple, yet sophisticated forms, and each of them always serves a specific purpose. Functionality is the key word at Nami, which can also be experienced by visiting the studio during numerous workshops organised there.

OYCA studio merges two worlds in one. This workshop and showroom of an original jewellery brand, which has existed since 1989, is full of unusual items. Here you can find copper tubes, steel balls, solder and tools used in the production of handmade jewellery. OYCA has been creating collections of impressive head-turning pendants, large brooches and unique bracelets for over 30 years now.

An industrial space of 400 sq m, full of vintage furniture? Retronauci is definitely a paradise for the lovers of Polish and world design gems. The sometimes aesthetically bold designs presented in the venue date back to the 1970s and come from brands such as Moroso, Ligne Roset, Vitra and others. The founders are eager to share their knowledge by telling stories about the old days of design.

Every Poznań district needs a bookshop like this. Jeżyce is lucky to have Skład Kulturalny, with its shelves bending under the weight of good books of all genres, including those about design. But it is not just literature that delights customers of this local bookshop – Skład Kulturalny also teems with beautiful postcards, bookmarks and various trinkets that will save your skin if you are trying to buy a last-minute birthday gift.

Swarzędz Home is the heir to the tradition of Antoni Tabaka and Swarzędz Furniture Factory. This is a brand with over 100 years of tradition, which still surprises us with the modernity of its projects. Swarzędz Home offers furniture and accessories made from natural, fine materials, whose production still relies on traditional methods, but also freely incorporates new, interesting solutions.

Over 22 years of tradition, hundreds of vernissages and exhibitions, thousands of friends: artists, enthusiasts of goldsmithing, event participants – this is Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz’s YES Gallery in a nutshell. Cooperation with cultural and scientific institutions places the gallery in a wider context and allows it to constantly rediscover the invaluable potential of Polish goldsmiths.

Inhabitants of Jeżyce claim that this is the best coffee in the district. They might be right, as the coffee served in Uno comes from the local Odija roasting plant – and you can rest assured they are experts at their craft. At Uno, you can also enjoy a delicious breakfast any time you like, as the café serves its hand-made sourdough bread and other delicacies all day long.

This café is definitely the pride of Łazarz district. The interior will impress you with creativity, cakes and coffee. The venue boasts an abundance of eye-catching furniture, colourful posters, delicious cheesecakes and hectolitres of coffee brewed in dozens of ways using special beans. It is also a place where you will meet a lot of nice people. The word “customer” in Vandal has long since been replaced by the word “friend”.
